Without debate this is the most troublesome part on the 450/500 engine, the weakest link. Under-engineered, the starter clutch beats itself to death very quickly. And all Honda's spare parts for this mechanism are long gone. In my booklet I go into detail on rebuilding it and taking special pains to ensure it stays together.
